Portfolio blog

Image
This was a great project to end off the semester. I like how It ties together all of the projects we have done into a single piece of work. I was not a great fan of doing blogs over the semester, but now that I have something to look back on and read, it means a lot more. For example, when I read my about me blog for the first time in 3 months I got some sort of sentimental feeling. Lots has changed in three months and I can just tell by the things I wrote about three months ago in my first blog. I think the blogs are extremely important for this class because it is a way to explain into further depth the background thoughts of why the design looks the way it does. The blogs give a way for people who are better writers than graphic designers to further explain their work. This class has not only taught me a lot about AI photoshop and Indesign, but also a lot about myself. I am glad I took this class.

Business Card

Image
This business card project was very fun to do. I love the concept of business cards because I am changing my major to business and would love to be a business man myself one day. Seeing my name on a business card looks very cool. I chose the colors red and green due to the fact that its Christmas time so that was my inspiration. Having a website of my own dedicated to my business also sounds very interesting and makes me want to become a business man even more. Overall this project was a fun one to do.

postcard

Image
I really enjoyed working on this project because I have never created a postcard before. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to create a postcard and creating my own twist to it. The reason I picked a zoo is because i have always loved animals growing up and when I was younger, the monkey was my favorite. Adding my tag brush also felt nice because it added something that made it so it felt like mine, my initial's. I also learned that postcards do not need an envelope to mail which i found very interesting. I may send some postcards out in the future when I travel somewhere special.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgVMmC2Hp9M This video did a tutorial on the page tool. I feel like this tool is very simple to use because there are only a few things you can do with it. You can choose the size of the page, which corner you want the reference point to be on, and if the page is vertical or horizontal. I think this tool would be very useful when doing any graphic design project. I did not find much interesting about the video as it was fairly simple and straightforward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_l60IGj0ek This video is a tutorial for the gap tool. This tool seems super simple because all you are doing is manipulating the size of the gap between two things. Those two things could be an object and text, page and text, or page and object. I think this tool could be used very often if not used in every graphic design project because its very useful. You can also change the size of the object when changing the gap distance. I would utilize this tool when creati...

Tag Brush

Image
I chose to utilize my initials to form a simple yet attractive looking logo. The font of the M and the S is appealing to the eye and looks fancy. Especially on the tag brush, it is a mixture of fancy and a new, cool looking splatter effect. I believe this brush would appeal to both the new and older generation cause it demonstrates the best of both worlds. I also chose to take out the box outline for the brush itself because I feel like it was an un-needed add to the logo. I felt as though it dosent fit with the initials and I should have chose a different aspect to add.

Poster

Image
Growing up I was never really taught to chew with my mouth closed, so, as a result of that, I grew up chewing very loudly and obnoxiously. As I got older people began to notice this and call me out on it but i never really thought to change until I started noticing others doing it. I realized how disgusting this was and understood I needed to change how I chew.     From then on every time I ate I had to think to myself every time i took a bite to keep my mouth closed. Especially when I was eating in front of girls I would catch myself chewing with it open and immediately chew with it closed. This took a lot of time and effort because when you grow up doing something so much it becomes a habit, and habits are hard to break. Now that I chew with my mouth closed subconsciously, Anytime I am around someone who chews with it open, I call them out on it because thats what fixed my problem. I believe this propaganda poster, if shown to the public, would fix this problem.

Ps HW 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-lhr83hEhk In this video it teaches us how to create a double exposure. I think this will be very simple to do because there are not many steps to it. Although simple, I think this tool could be used in many different ways to enhance your creation. One thing I found interesting about the video is that you have to move the layers around instead of clicking a move to back button like in illustrator. I feel that it makes it a little easier though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsDYZy3ZyYo This tool seems a little bit harder to use than the last one. The wavy effect seems to have a few more steps.   Not only do you need to add the image but you also need to overlay it and also use the brush tool to blend the colors together. You also need to switch the colors up to match the original image. I feel as if you wouldn't use this tool very often just due to the fact that I can't think of many images where I would want a wavy texture. I didn't fin...

Abstract: The art of design

Image
One photo from the documentary that brought me close to my emotions was the image of the military person aiming his gun. Im not sure why but this image brought a sense of fear to me. What we see in the image is a man in full military clothes with what looks like a helmet on his head aiming a gun. You can assume a lot from this photo but then again nobody really knows what's happening. That's what I like about photography. There's so much to see but there's so much that you don't know and can assume. We don't know if this was just a photoshoot or if this man is actually at war or in a fight. All we know is that he's there, aiming that assault rifle.     I am not a fan of editing photos because I feel as if it takes the realness out of them. Nowadays everyone is editing photos wether it is editing your teeth to be more white, or editing your arms to be bigger, or even editing people out of photos. This is stripping the...

Scuzzarella Colored Logos

Image
When Crafting this logo, I thought about my family and things they love. One thing my dad loves is his truck. His truck is extremely old but it still holds a special place in his heart. He has a ford truck from 2008. This logo that I have created, to me, resembles this ford logo. Every time I look at it I think of his Ford truck. I also used those different color ways for no reason in particular, just because I think those colors go very well together. The ford logo also has a uniqueness to it that separates itself from other car logos. I think its simplistic design sets it apart from others.      I believe that a simple design is not only crucial but also has a special way of drawing customers in. We see simple designs all over nowadays but one that draws my attention the most is apple. The largest phone company in the U.S. It has an extremely simple design but it draws the most amount of users in. I think that simple designs overall, are more effective than very ...

Calligramme project

Image
The image I have created above demonstrates that life is a path, your path. You create your own path and nobody else should be allowed to affect it. A lot of times in life we are told what to do wether it is our parents, friends, peers, teachers, etc... I think that you need to take everything with a grain of salt because at the end of the day you need to do what your heart tells you to do and not what someone else tells you to do. This is why I created the path to demonstrate that staying in your own lane/path is extremely important. I hope everyone is able to learn sometime in their life that this is their life to live, nobody  else's, and if you are not happy doing what you are doing, you need change. A great quote I heard from an unknown source is "nothing changes if nothing changes." This means that whatever is going wrong in your life, you need to do something about it or else nothing will change. You can't wait on others to come save yo...

AI HW

Mike Scuzzarella September 14      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GzumUieDPY     I think that creating the shapes and coloring them will be fairly easy but I think that creating curved points and using the brush tool will be difficult. The brush tool will be hard because its difficult to make a neat word when you are using the touchpad and even if you had a mouse it would still be hard to write neatly. Curved points would also be sort of difficult because it may be hard to get the exact angle you want. There are also a lot of steps to do a curved point which makes it even more difficult. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79YT26cj8Rc     The Guides seem very difficult to create because you have to alter the height and width and get the exact  measurements. I am not sure what I would use this for maybe to split the page into thirds or fourths for something like an infographic? I did find this very interesting because the gu...

Internet/WWW blog

Image
Mike Scuzzarella September 12      The internet is known as a vast network that connects computers all over the world. The internet was created by Bob Kahn and Vent Cerf who are both American computer scientists. They developed TCIP/IP which are protocols that governs how data moves through a network. The internet back then was primarily used for government researchers to share information.  The internet allows people to share information and communicate from anywhere with an internet connection.     The World Wide Web refers to all the public websites or pages that users can access on their local computers and other devices through the internet. Tim Berners-lee who was a British scientist created the World Wide Web in 1989. The point of the WWW was to merge the evolving technologies of computers, data networks and hypertext into powerful and easy to use global information system. The World Wide Web is used for a vast maj...

Who I Am

Image
Who I Am  September 6, 2023     My name is Michael Scuzzarella and I am a freshman here at The  University of Tampa. I am an undecided major but am leaning towards finance so we will see what I decide to do in the future. I really like the university so far due to its beautiful atmosphere, warm weather, and kind people. I look forward to meeting lots of new people and creating long lasting friendships. I also want to build strong relationships with my professors so that I am able to communicate with them better. I am very excited to learn more about this class because I haven't taken many technology classes in my school career.          I have many interests and hobbies that I mainly developed from back home in Guilderland New York. I would say my most prominent hobby is lifting weights. My parents got me into it when I was in about 6th grade but I didn't really start training with a purpose until 8th grade. Weight lifting has ...
